Jeepin' on the beach at St. Augustine

This is "Everybodys Restaurant".  If passing through Baldwin, Fl.  you owe it to yourself to stop in for lunch!

Parris Island, S.C.

Low and slow fly-by in the Champ. That grin says it all!!!

The three Musketeers! School friends Allan (L) and Al (R).

One of the many planes at the Thomasville Fly-In. This is one of my all time favorites...a Globe Swift.

On the road again...this time on 6 wheels!

We've been home from our ride for a couple months and it's time to get the blog going again. Since returning, we have sold our fifth wheel and moved back into another motor home. After living in the fifth wheel for a bit, we have decided that we are simply "motor home people"!

As for a bit of catching up, we have now traveled from Texas to Florida to attend the wedding of our niece, Dr. Teri Stapleton. After a month of sightseeing in St. Augustine, we headed off to a Fly-In at Thomasville, Ga. While there, we were able to get together with school friends Al and Allan.

Sharlene had never ridden in a light plane and our new friend, Bobby, took her up in his Aeronca Champ. I will post pictures that will show how much she enjoyed it!

Reluctantly,  we said goodbye to friends and headed out to the small town of Stapleton, Ga. The town of Stapleton is named for my great, great, great, great Grandfather George Lawson Stapleton. Grandfather Stapleton was a soldier in the Revolution and was deeded property in Ga. for his service to our new country.

After leaving Stapleton, we meandered north and stopped in at Parris Island, S.C. Sharlene wanted to see where I attended (survived) boot camp (a very, very long time ago). I had sworn to NEVER go back again but if it makes her happy... LOL

With very little objection from me, we left Parris Island and made our way north to the Great Smoky Mountains. Autumn has come to the Smokies and the fall colors are beautiful! In a few days, we will be wandering our way out to the West, so stay tuned!
