Day 27 Look it's a Bear! by Sharlene

Today started out cloudy with a chance of "what", rain. Well, just to be prepared I started out in rain gear. There must be something to that because we managed to stay out of the rain today. Only because we delayed our start time to give the rain a chance to move ahead of us and stopped about an hour earlier than we would have to stay out of the very heavy rain in the Duluth area. We are riding highway 2 which dips in and out of Michigan and Wisconsin. As we were dipping back into Michigan and by gosh it's a black bear! We see it lumber down an embankment on the right side of the road and we slow down to watch him ahead of us when he runs across the road. We pull to a stop as he lumbers up the left embankment and Ken rushes to get the camera. Ken just about has it when he gets to the top of the bank the bear looks back right at us! We could see his brown snout and he runs back into the woods. That was so cool! As for the other wild life today we count up 1 wild turkey and 2 deer. As you can see below we met Fred and Penny for lunch today. We will met them again one day in Pharr, TX, as they winter there every year now. We thought we could get a bit further but stopped in Superior, WI rather than get drenched in Duluth or some where west of there. As we stopped for gas, we called it a day with 227 miles logged. We were lucky enough to get one of the last rooms at a nearby hotel. We share the "Latitude" app with fellow travelers and wondered if our friends Kevin and Suzanne would notice if we were in the area and bang! We get a text message. We will get together with them tomorrow before heading out. You just never know where we will be? LOL
