One of the things on our "bucket list" is a perimeter ride of the USA...on motorcycles. After all, we have been riding two wheels longer than we care to admit! Since we have never been the type to "follow the crowd", we decided that we would attempt this ride on scooters. *****************UPDATE************** We have lost our minds...AGAIN! We are doing the Perimeter Ride again, this time on cruisers. Stay tuned for more adventures of Ken and Sharlene!!!!

Day 28 - Record flooding in Duluth, Mn.
This morning, we awoke to find it was still raining. I had not slept well due to constant thunder most of the night. Around 2 AM, lightning struck EXTREMELY close. We discovered this morning that it had hit the building adjacent to the hotel where we are staying. According to local news, this area is experiencing the worst flood since the early '70s. After assessing our situation, we came up with just 3 scenarios...ride in HEAVY rain and thunderstorms, re-route south for a bit then turn back north, or stay over another night. We decided that the main reason for this trip was to have fun (and not die in a storm!), so we elected to stay over another night. Sharlene and I have been lounging in our room today and watching old movies on TV. Around noon, we ventured out for lunch at a little Bar and Grill just next door (pretty good food). Walking back over to the hotel we noticed how CLEAN the scooters had gotten in all the rain! The forecast for tomorrow looks better and we are hoping to get out of here! If all goes well, we should be somewhere near Minot, ND tomorrow afternoon.
